Employment Matters assists companies throughout the entire compliance process. Where hands-on expertise is not essential, our consultants will provide direction and templates for use by internal resources.
However, there are four areas where the training curve required to perform at acceptable levels is too high and use of internal resources in not recommended. Our experience has shown that poor performance in these four areas is the cause of most failed audits.
For this reason, we recommend the use of our expertise to successfully comply with audit requirements. The four areas are listed below.
Employment Equity Plan
We work with you to develop an Employment Equity plan that is achievable and designed to make you competitive in the marketplace. We use our knowledge of your company, compliance criteria, and our experience in HR, diversity and change to advise on effective strategies and best practices that can best move you forward. We encourage you to identify costs, resources and infrastructure in addition to the accountability framework.
As a diagnostic tool, the Workforce Analysis (WFA) is a snapshot of the outcome of employment practices and employment markets. It also measures the effectiveness of the employment equity plan. Patterns of under-representation and concentration revealed by the WFA can indicate potential problem areas that will become the focus of an employment systems review.
Traditional ‘employment equity’ thinking sees gaps as under representation of designated groups. We help our clients to respond to these gaps as a wake up call to be more competitive in sourcing, attracting and managing talent.
Keith Jeffers brings to the WFA a strong business perspective and his experience of managing a corporate Workforce Data Unit where he led the development of the how-to Workforce Analysis Guidelines Manual.
Employment Systems Review
The Employment Systems Review (ESR) focuses on strengthening organizational systems and practices to remove employment barriers and to create a culture of diversity that attracts and retains effective performers at all levels of the organization.
